Nugget--Very profound. I think we can all agree with those.

Things I'm grateful for....
by Lunatic Faith ini only recently decided to change course in my life but am surprised at the daily reminders of what i have to be grateful for.

Wonderful! I thought of a few more:
Grateful I don't have to avoid public events for fear I will be beaten up for not standing during the National Anthem
Grateful I can enjoy the pride I feel at hearing the national anthem rather than guilt
Grateful I can now buy Girl Scout cookies. I bought some tonight and loved putting smiles on their faces instead of disappointment. I now know that Thin Mints are overrated and the best cookies are the Samoas.

I only recently decided to change course in my life but am surprised at the daily reminders of what I have to be grateful for. By this, I mean, things I have spent my life worrying about, or torturing myself with, that is no longer a concern:
- No more door-to-door humiliation
- No more guilt about not doing enough
- I can get rid of most of the dresses in my wardrobe since I didn't like them anyway
- No more nylons rolling down my abdomen and causing my thighs to itch
- No more required reading and preparation
- No more talks
- No more conventions and all the headaches connected to them
- Summer is wide open
- Weekly planning is no longer contingent upon meeting night
- No more miserable weekends of morning service and morning meeting
What are you grateful for?

Satinka--That's where I saw the reference that made me look it up. I didn't realize who the poster was, though. Thanks for the insight!

Did you do very early morning field service?
by truthseeker inin my old congregation, there was a group of dubs who started field service at 4am - yes, that's 4 o'clock in the morning.
i went with them on a few occasions.. to be ready, you'd have to be up at least 3:30am to get washed and dressed and maybe get a bite to eat.. at 4am, our designated driver would show up along with a couple of sleepy eyed jws trying to "get their time in.
" many times we'd go pick up a jw only to find they forgot about service and overslept.. .

When I was pioneering and 90 hours was the focus of my days and nights, we would sometimes start at 8am because we lived in a small community and there wasn't enough business or traffic to approach earlier. We would use that time to find stubborn not-at-homes. Once when I was in Reno I started at 6am and hit laundromats and gas stations and ATM's. I never liked that. I thought it was harassment to approach people in public places and it usually frightened them. Also, where the hell do you put a tract in an ATM? I always thought that was a stupid idea and wouldn't do it.
I got so tired of working the same territory after pioneering a few years and started doing parking lots. I hated that. People would look at me like I was a stalker. Then someone would get really pissed and tell the management who would then come out and escort us off the property. No wonder JW's don't have any dignity or pride!

I don't think so. Because I remember when it was only 3 million and I was born in 1972.
Okay, I checked the oldest yearbook I posess--1964-- and it says the grand total for 1962 was 920, 920. I wonder if the 2.5 million meant memorial attenders?

Are you a fader, Df'd, DA'd, or Still In?
by brotherdan ini thought this would be an interesting poll that would show everyone the backgrounds of all of us when we left, if we have.. for myself, i am not df'd, but i am attempting a fade.
i still go to some meetings with the wife to help with kids, but that's it.
no commenting or field service.. what about everyone else?.

yourmomma-reverse shun? Does that mean you go up and harass them until they talk to you? Or is it more exuberant? Do you like hug them, loudly proclaiming how much you have missed them, then maybe slap them on the backside? Either way sounds interesting and potentially fun.

When trying to find this article I went to time.com and just looked up Jehovah's Witnesses. The articles go back over 60 years. Time has never been a friend of the WBTS. None of their articles were very flattering.
